Walking in Codicote |
|
There are a number of circular walks around Codicote. They all start and end in the High Street. Some are quite short and good for getting quick exercise, others are longer, and others are more suitable for an excursion with the kids and generally pass close to some place of refreshment! The walks generally follow tracks and paths and avoid roads as much as possible. The description for each walk gives a rough estimate of time and distance. These are all measured from the point the walk leaves the High Street so you might need to add a bit on depending upon where you live. If you want to take a map with you then a 1:25000 scale is ideal. These walks are mainly on OS Explorer 182 with some on OS Explorer 193. In general, wear clothes suitable for the weather with appropriate footware. When walking on roads, remember to walk in single file and on the right side of the road (to face oncoming traffic) crossing over when you are about to approach the inside of a bend. You can usually hear cars, but watch out for children and make sure that they also know that a vehicle is coming. If you feel that you want more information about walking, then take a look at The Ramblers WEBSITE. Suggestions for other walks are welcome, please send them to admin@codicoteplan.co.uk along with any photos (jpeg or png format) of the route. |
